Abstract (EN)
In this thesis an organization which is called as al-Hareket al-Islamiyye in Kurdish part of Iraq was investigated in terms of its periods since it has been established, organizational structures, thoughts, leaders, activities, achievements, positive and negative facets. It is emphasized on the reasons why this movement was revealed and in particular from these reasons Afghani Jihad and Iranian Revolution were elaborated. While historical process was examined, it was found that the scholars who took part in al-Hareket al-Islamiyye were already participated in other organization such as Association of Muslim Scholars that was established by Barzani, Rabita al-Islamiyye and even Ihvan al-Muslimin. Therefore, it possible to argue that the movement derived from the Ihvan Movement in the 1960s. The idea to establish al-Hareket al-Islamiyye organization was surfaced after Sheikh Usman and other scholars migrated to Iran due to the oppressions of Saddam regime. When the structure of al-Hareket al-Islamiyye is viewed it has been seen that it is a political and Islamic movement. Moreover, there have been different thoughts in the movement. For example, it has been seen the supporters of Salafi, Ihvan, nationalist and radical ideas in the movement. Thus, it created heavy contestations within the movement and afterwards divisions and separations. Despite all these differentiations the movement adopted as a principle to apply Islamic bases in every sphere of life such as politics, arts, business, education and social life. In addition to this, the movement played a part for Kurdish nation in Iraq to obtain their rights against the Saddam regime. After constructing the Kurdistan regional government, they participated in the election, gained important achievements and were represented in the regional government as ministry. Key Words Islamic movement, Sheikh Usman, Kurdistan, Regional government, Islamic parties
