Electronic health records acceptance by healthcare professionals: Turkish adaptation of a scale

Electronic health records (EHR) is a concept that has been on the agenda along with digitalization for the last half century which has made contributed towards the improvement in the quality of the health service as well as providing data and process standardization and has provided economic benefits. In addition to the benefits it brings to the sector, its adoption by users draws attention due to the requirement of high investment. In the study, scale reliability and validity analyses were carried out in order to gain a data collection tool that evaluates the intention towards the adoption of EHR systems and the factors affecting it. Test-retest method and confirmatory factor analysis were performed, AVE, CR and Cronbach's Alpha coefficients were investigated for the validity and reliability of the scale, which consisted of a total of 10 dimensions and 32 items in the begining. Dimensions of the scale were named as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, computer self-efficacy, demonstrability of the results, personal identity, social norm, professional norm, information about change, resistance to change and behavioral intention to use. As a result of the analysis, 2 items were removed and adoption of the scale, which consists 10 dimensions like the original study but 30 items, to Turkish is achieved. The study provided recommendations to the relevant authorities, including (re)designing the system to be user-friendly, setting up training on how to utilize it and reap its benefits, and making plans to remove privacy and security problems.
