A study on determining user opinions on electronic document management systems: The case of Firat University

In the last decades, Electronic Document Management Systems have an important place in the information and document management of institutions. In today's world, it is a must for institutions to use all kinds of technological opportunities that will benefit them in terms of keeping up with today's information and document management conditions. In this study, the use of Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) in Fırat University is analyzed. The convenience in terms of usage, the adaptation process by the employees, its deficiencies, if any, and what kind of benefits it provides to the institution have been investigated. Data were collected by face-to-face survey method with a quantitative research approach from 348 personnel at Fırat University. The Electronic Document Management System is analysed in terns of different demographic patterns that are defined clearly in the third section. According to the analysis results, there is a significant difference among the groups of different Education Levels, Daily Internet Use, Social Media Use and In-Service Training. It was concluded that those who received in-service training had a statistically higher level of satisfaction in terms of automation and management functions of EDMS compared to those who did not. At Fırat University, it is seen that EDMS adaptation is high, that the personnel who have high technology literacy and in-service training are positively differentiated in this context.
