Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, nanotechnological studies that make our life easier and enriched in every field are of great importance in terms of effective evaluation of boron resources in our country and development of production technologies. In this study, boron oxide and boron carbide compounds, which are increasingly used in industrial fields among boron compounds, have been synthesized in fiber form and developed with boron oxide and boron carbide reinforced nanofiber-composite materials in order to increase mechanical strength in composite materials. Among the techniques used for fiber production, electrospinning technique, which is considered to be the most effective technique, has been used. The fiber samples obtained by electrospinning technique were characterized by using SEM, TGA and high resolution microscope analyzes. Then boron oxide and boron carbide fibers were obtained from the calcined fiber samples. After the calcination process, boron oxide and boron carbide fibers are characterized using FTIR, SEM and XRD analyzes. After characterization, the nanofibers were modified with MPTS and combined with the organic matrix prepared with Bis-GMA, DUDMA, TEGDMA monomers. Thermal polymerization was carried out using benzoyl peroxide in matrix and fiber reinforced composites were formed. 3 point bending test was applied to these composites to investigate the mechanical strength of the composite material. The same test was repeated on composite materials prepared using commercial boron oxide and boron carbide powders. The mechanical strengths of the particulate and fiber reinforced composites were compared with each other.
