Determination of the effects of sodium salicylate on fatty acids at frontal lobe of rat brain and body mass in emotiona(immobilization) stress generated rats

Abstract (EN)
In this study, the body weight increase and the effects of sodium salicylate on brain tissue fatty acid components in emotional stress induced Wistar-albino strain male rats depending movement are carried out. The study is performed prior to the approval of The ethical committee document dated 02.06.2011 and numbered 87 issued from Firat University Medical Faculty. Frontal part of the brain obtained at the end of the assay is removed; after the essential exttraction precesses are done, GC (gas chromatography) assay is carried out. Accarding to the data obtained from the GC analysis palmitoleic acid, linoleic acid, eicosenoic acid, stearic acid, pentadecanoic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid, arachidonic acid, docosahexaenoic acid and lignoceric acids are calculated in the frontal part of the brain. In the study, control, stressed and stressed+sodium salicylate groups are generated. According to the experiment results, weight increase rate is observed to decrease in the stress group compared to control group (p<0.05). The weight incerase rate of stress+ sodium salicylate group is determined to incerase compared to stress group (p<0.05). Stress+sodium salicylate group total saturated fatty acid (∑SFA) level is observed to decrease in oppose to control group (p<0.05), while total unsaturated fatty acid (∑USFA) level is determined to increase (p<0.05). Mono-unsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) level is observed to increase in stress and stress+ sodium salicylate groups compared to control group (p<0.05). Total polyunsaturated fatty acids in all three groups (ΣPUFA) levels were determined to be no statistical difference (p>0.05). When brain tissue fatty acid level is exemined, palmitoleic acid (16:1), linoleic acid (18:2), eicosenoic acid (20:1) fatty acid level is observed to increase in stress+ sodium salicylate group compared to control group (p<0.05). stress+ sodium salicylate group stearic acid (18:0) and lignoceric acid (24:0) fatty acid levels are determined to decrease compared to control group. According to assay results it is thought that sodium salicylate has partial effects against body weight and stress on brain tissue fatty acid level in stressed rats induced by immobilization.
