Abstract (EN)

The most general expression in Turkish for the word "nomophobia", which is known as "no mobile phone phobia" in English and produced with an abbreviation, is "fear of being without a smartphone". In this study, the relationship between the level of nomophobia and the symptoms of attention deficit and hyperactivity in the adolescent age group was examined. The sample of the study consists of 42 adolescents aged 12-17 with ADHD diagnosis and 50 adolescents who do not have this diagnosis so a total of 92 adolescents. Sociodemographic Data Form, Nomophobia Scale, Conners-Wells Adolescent Self-Report Scale Long Form-CWES-U were used for data collection in the study. Data were analysed using SPSS 25.0 statistical program. Statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. In our study, a significant positive correlation was found between ADHD symptom levels and nomophobia levels. Nomophobia levels did not differ significantly between the genders. It has been found that adolescents use smart phones mostly for the purpose of following social media. It was found that the high educational level of the father increased the level of nomophobia in the adolescents, there was no relationship between the education level of the mother and the level of nomophobia in the adolescents, and the nomophobia levels of the adolescents with low academic achievement were higher than those of the adolescents with good academic achievement. There was no significant relationship between the relationship status of the adolescents with their families and the situation of the families limiting the adolescent's use of mobile phone and the nomophobia levels. The nomophobia levels of the adolescents who were in a romantic relationship were found to be significantly higher than those of the adolescents who did not have a romantic relationship. Studies with larger samples are needed to examine the relationship between attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder symptoms and nomophobia levels. Keywords: Nomophobia, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, adolescent
