Abstract (EN)

In 19th century, Eskisehir was a town connected to Sultanönü Sanjak. The State, started to make censuses in order to determine the Muslim population, which would be the basis of taxation, and to provide troops to Asakir-i Mansur-i Muhammedia which was established after the abolition of the The Janissary Corps. The subject of this thesis covers the census of 1830 conducted in Eskişehir, which is one of the country-wide censuses taken place after the first district-based census of 1829 conducted in İstanbul, Tophane. This is the first modern census of Eskisehir. 1531 numbered Population Register found in Ottoman Archives in the Republic of Turkey State Archives site, formed the basis of this study. This translation study will contribute to the history and social sciences literature and will also shed light on the social, cultural and economic situation of Eskisehir and therefore of Anatolia. The fact that 'e-devlet' application directly serves the inquiry of Lower-Upper Genealogy, should be considered as a separate dimension. Keywords: Eskişehir, Neighborhood, 1830, 1246, Population, Population Register
