Evaluation of COVID-19 infection contagion anxiety level and effects of COVID-19 vaccines on this anxiety level in patients aged 18-65 years who applied to ESOGÜ faculty of medicine family medicine polyclinics

Coronavirus infection is essentially a viral infection transmitted by respiratory droplets. Over time, it became a pandemic that affected the whole world and took the name COVID-19. It is possible to be protected from this disease, which has a vaccine, and the number of people vaccinated is of great importance in limiting the pandemic. The aim of our study is to examine the relationship between the levels of anxiety and fear of the transmission of COVID-19 in patients aged 18-65, with the status of COVID-19 vaccination and sociodemographic factors. The questionnaire form of the research was applied to 866 patients aged 18-65 years who applied to Eskişehir Osmangazi University Health Practice and Research Hospital Family Medicine Polyclinics between 01.03.2022 and 01.06.2022 by face-to-face interview method. Compared to men, women's fear of coronavirus and coronavirus anxiety were statistically significantly higher. People with high levels of coronavirus anxiety had a significantly higher level of coronavirus fear. It has been determined that people with high coronavirus fear and anxiety levels develop some forms of preventive behavior. The most important result obtained in this study is that individuals' vaccination behaviors are affected positively as the level of fear of COVID-19 increases. COVID-19 can be prevented by vaccination and family physicians play an important role in vaccination. It will be possible to prevent morbidity and mortality, as well as economic and social losses that may be caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with vaccination in all healthcare institutions, especially in primary care.
