Abstract (EN)

Postpartum hemorrhage is considered one of the leading causes of treatable and preventable maternal deaths. The study aims to evaluate the knowledge and skill levels of nurses about postpartum hemorrhage and find out the relationship between nurse knowledge and demographic data. A descriptive study was conducted in Misan, Iraq, for 300 nurses working in Misan Children's and Maternity Hospital. Introductory information forms, 'Assessment of Nurse's Practical Skills Regarding Avoidance of Postpartum Hemorrhage, were used to collect the data. Frequency, percentage, and arithmetic mean were used in the statistical analysis, and the study reveals that more than half of the nurses have the correct answer about postpartum hemorrhage with an arithmetic mean of 0.54. And with an arithmetic mean of 0.59, nurses have correct nursing skills about postpartum hemorrhage. In this study, it is seen that the nurses should be encouraged to participate in training courses in postpartum hemorrhage to increase their knowledge and skills to prevent, detect, and manage women with postpartum hemorrhage.
