Abstract (EN)

Adoption is a legal institution that establıshes an artificial filiation bond between the adopter and the adopted child. Thanks to this institution, a solution is offered to disadvantaged families who are biologically unable to have children. The validity of this institution is shaped according to the ideological structures of societies. This practice, which started with the Greeks and is considered legitimate in the Western world of thought, has now taken its place in the Turkısh Civil Code. In the Islamic civilization, it was seen as a negative practice. In this context study examines the religious attitudes of childless, disadvantaged families who apply to adoption institutions based on two different approaches. It evaluates whether this institution can be a correct solution in social and legal terms. The purpose of the study is to determine the reasons why adoptive families feel disadvantaged, to analyze the main factors that push these families to adopt, and to analyze their psychological and religious attitudes in this process. In the literature research, a combined analysis of both psychological and religious attitudes of adoptive families was not found. For this reason, it is an important study in terms of making a significant contribution to the field of psychology of religion. It was prepared using qualitative research methods. As a result of the study, it was seen that the main reason why childless families feel disadvantaged is that they do not comply with the generally accepted definition of a family with children in society and that families generally turn to this institution as a solution to this deficiency, and in this process, they prioritize their psychological satisfaction rather than their religious attitudes.
