Abstract (EN)
This study's aim is to reveal the effect of stress and anxiety level on premenstrual syndrome in married and single women. Besides, the effects of variables such as women's ages, marital status, income level, age of first menstruation bleeding , duration of menstruation bleeding on stress, anxiety and premenstrual syndrome is examined. 100 women who are living in Besiktas providence of Istanbul and between 21-48 ages is participated to the research. Also, according to identify socio-demographic characteristics of the participants, personal information form is made by researcher. When the socio-demographic characteristics analyzed, it is found out that the perceived stress, depressive affectivity, fatigue and swelling levels of married women are higher than single ones, and the pain and irritability levels of single women are higher than married ones. Also, it is seen that as married women have longer period times, the swelling levels of them decrease, while as single women have longer period times, the state anxiety levels of them decrease; and as married women have longer period times, the pain levels of them decrease, while as single women have longer period times, the premenstrual syndrome levels of them increase. There was no meaningful results for socio-demographic features that take a part in the research, such as individuals' age, marriage duration, children number. In addition, it is seen that the increase of premenstrual syndrome levels cause increase of perceived stress levels for married women, while perceived stress level increases premenstrual syndrome level; and while state anxiety levels increase for single women, trait anxiety levels also increase. In the discussion section that is at the end of the research, suggestions for researchers, psychological counselors working on this field and families had been proposed on research findings.
