Investigation of relation between gender roles, marital satisfaction and job satisfaction of married and working adults

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relation among gender roles, job satisfaction and marital satisfaction of married and working adults.The sample of the study included 180 both married and working people. Data related to the gender roles of the individuals were gathered by ?Bem Sex Role Inventory? (Bem, 1974); data related to the marital satisfaction were gathered by ?Marriage Life Scale? (Tezer, 1986); data related to the job satisfaction were gathered by ?Minnesota Satisfactions Questionnaire (MSQ)? (Weiss, Davis, England and Lofquist, 1967) and lastly personal information about the individuals were gathered by ?Personal Information Form?, which was designed by the researcher. T-test, Mann-Whitney U Test, one-way ANOVA and multiple regressions were used in analyzing the data.Research findings suggested that while there was no meaningful difference among genders, ages, monthly income and marital satisfaction of married and working adults, a meaningful difference was found between educational level, partner?s educational level and marital satisfaction. It was also seen that while there wasn?t meaningful difference among genders, ages, professions, monthly income and job satisfaction of married and working adults, there was a meaningful difference between educational level and job satisfaction of the individuals. However, while the marital satisfaction of individuals who had androgenity roles was meaningfully higher than the individuals who had ambiguous roles in, the job satisfaction of the individuals who had maculinity roles was meaningfully higher than the ones who had ambiguous roles.Additionally, according to the results of regression analyses it was found that, masculinity points was a meaningful predictor of marital satisfaction and job satisfaction of individuals.In conclusion, the results suggested that there was no meaningfully relation between marital satisfaction and job satisfaction of married and working individuals who attended the research.Keywords: Gender roles, marital satisfaction, job satisfaction.
