Determination of agricultural and some quality characteristics of different fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) genotypes

This study was carried out to determine the agricultural and some quality characteristics of different fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) genotypes in Bolu ecological conditions. A total of 113 different fenugreek seeds, including 111 genotypes and two fenugreek cultivars, were used according to the Augmented Trial Design in the field of Research and Application of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Agriculture in 2019. In the study, seedling days (12.14-41.14 days), first flowering days (43.91-53.91 days), 50% flowering days (48.05-58.05), 100% flowering days (48.14-71.64 days), pod setting days (47.09-57.59 days), plant height (35.10-92.00 cm), number of branches per plant (2.18-7.98 number), stem thickness (2.23-5.47 mm), leaflet blade length (1.29-3.81 cm), leaflet blade width (0.36-1, 91 cm), first pod height (6.26-37.76 cm), number of pods per plant (1.05-48.85 pod/plant), pod height (6.06-13.17 cm), pod width (2.23-4.46 mm), pod thickness (1.47-2.96 mm), number of seeds per pod (7.65-17.75 number/pod), thousand seed weight (3.19-32,20 g), seed yield per plant (0.19-16.91 g/plant), biological yield (1.02-74.95 g/plant), harvest index (0.49-41.96%), crude protein ratio (22.28-32-24%), fatty oil ratio (2.17-15.52%) and main fatty acids as elaidic acid (%2,22-50,64), stearic acid (% 0,96-68,55), oleic acid (% 1,00-42,83), palmitic acid (% 1,88-13,39), arachidonik acid (% 0,27-11,40), linoleic acid (% 0,91-9,74) were determined. As a result of the analysis of variance; it has been determined that significant differences were found among the fenugreek cultivars and genotypes in terms of examined characteristics. According to the results of this study; it can be said that CN 19119, CN 19154, CN 19108, PI 628790 genotypes are suitable for Bolu ecological conditions in terms of seed yield per plant, crude protein content and fatty oil.
