Determination of yield and some quality characteristics of different coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) genotypes

This study was to investigate the determination of yield and some quality traits of various coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) genotypes obtained from various origins in Bolu ecological conditions. The research in which a total of 119 different coriander seeds, 114 genotypes and 5 varieties were used, was conducted in six blocks according to the Augmented Experimental Design in the Research and Application Area of the Faculty of Agriculture of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University in 2019. Phenological observations; 50% seedling days, 50% flowering time, 50% fruit setting time were determined as 24,37-40,97 days, 52,40-72,20 days, 61,40-96,20 days, respectively. In terms of morphological and yield traits, plant height as 25,50-84,30 cm, number of branches as 2,82-15,10 number, number of umbel as 2,81-72,68 number/plant, number of umbellet as 0,19-380,19 number/umbel, stem thickness as 1,66-7,38 mm, petiole length as 0,19-3,33 cm, fruit length as 0,75-4,62 mm, fruit width as 2,19-4,25 mm, biological yield as 0,01-50,78 g/plant, dry plant weight as 0,27-15,36 g/plant, harvest index as 8,48-73,36%, thousand fruit weight as 1,34-21,49 g and fruit yield as 0,02-9,58 g/plant were found in the study. Quality traits of coriander genotypes were determined as 10.22-34.03% for fatty oil, 24.47-87.70% for petroselinic acid,7.13-23.04% for palmitic acid, 1.55-47.44% for elaidic acid, 3.17-12.56% for behenic acid, 1.08%-3.33% for arachidic acid, 0.05-1.86% for essential oil, 3,13-45.70% for essential oil main acids linalool, 0,13-7,60% for camfor, 0,04-13,80% for ɣ-terpinene, 0,10-15,77% for p-cymene and 0,09-5,38% for β-pinene. It was found that significant variations between coriander genotypes and cultivars in terms of the investigated traits, and revealed that all coriander genotypes and cultivars can be grown under Bolu ecological conditions. Althought, it is necessary to repeat the experiment for a few years to obtain more healthier and certain results, Ames 13900 and Ames 18595 genotypes can be recommended for some traits such as fruit yield, fixed oil ratio, and essential oil ratio under in this region.
