Investigation of the perceptibility and acceptability of different color parameters in dental ceramics

Nowadays, with the increasing perception of aesthetics, it is important to ensure that the color difference between the prosthetic treatments performed and the adjacent natural teeth or the existing prosthetic restoration is in natural harmony. It is important to know the perceptibility and acceptability values in order to apply prosthetic restorations in harmony with natural tooth structures. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the perceptibility and acceptability values on dental ceramics using different color difference formulas and color measurement systems. In this study, 15 samples in the form of a porcelain disk were obtained and then matches were made between the samples to be 105. The color measurements of the samples were carried out using computer vision techniques on photographs taken with a spectrophotometer and a smartphone camera. 3 color difference formulas (ΔEAB, ΔE00 and ΔENS) were used to calculate the color differences. After visual evaluations, data were obtained with statistical analyzes. According to the findings of the study, it was observed that there were differences between the threshold values obtained when different color measurement methods and different color difference formulas were used. While there was no significant difference between the threshold values in terms of gender factor, it was concluded that there were significant differences in terms of occupational groups. The prosthesis specialist and technician group showed lower threshold values than the other groups.
