The effects of different linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) cultivars and seeding rate on yield and yield components

It was aimed to determine the oil flax cultivars and plant density suitable for Aydın ecological conditions. Three different oil flax cultivars, Karakız, Beyaz Gelin and Sarı Dane, were used as material. These cultivars were tested at sowing densities of 750, 1000, 1250 seeds m-2). The study was carried out according to the Split Plots in Randomized Complete Block design with three replications. Plant height (cm), technical stem length (cm), number of lateral branches, single plant biological yield (g plant-1), number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule, thousand seeds weight (g), biological yield (kg ha-1), seed yield (kg ha-1), oil content (%) and oil yield (kg ha-1) were investigated. Cultivar x plant density interaction was found to be significant for technical stem length, thousand seeds weight, seed yield (kg ha-1) and oil yield (kg ha-1). The effect of cultivar and plant density was significant on capsule weight and oil rate. Plant height, single plant biological yield, biological yield (kg ha-1), number of lateral branches and number of capsules were found to be significant. The highest seed yields were found in Karakız cultivar with 2002,6 kg ha-1 at 1250 plant m-2 plant density and in Beyaz Gelin cultivar with 1834,0 kg ha-1 and 1916,4 kg ha-1 at 1250 plant m-2 and 1000 plant m-2 plant densities. The highest seed oil content was found in 1250 plant m-2 plant density with 31.46% and in Sarı Dane cultivar with 34.41%. It would be recommended to cultivate Karakız and Beyaz Gelin cultivars at a plant density of 1250 plant m-2 for seed yield in oilseed flax cultivation in the region.
