Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out in Büyükçömlekçi village of Karaköprü district of Şanlıurfa province from 4 April to 5 July in 2021. Chemical control used in agriculture is the most frequently used control method against agricultural pests. However, many reasons such as these various negative effects of this method on living-environmental health and beneficial microorganisms in recent years, as well as the resistance of diseases, pests and weeds to pesticides used in chemical control, have led researchers to develop different alternatives in an integrated control method. Two-spottedred spider (Tetranychus urticae Koch 1836 (Acari: Tetranychidae)) is a polyphagous pest and an important agricultural pest. Due to its high reproductive potential and rapid development of resistance to pesticides, which pesticides are used intensively against this pest. In this study, it was aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of herbal extracts such as peppermint and lemon instead of pesticides on T. urticae as an alternative control method. Various attractant and repellent effects on T. urticae adults were investigated in field conditions by applying two different extracts prepared from peppermint and lemon essential oils to bean plant in different ways as seed and leaf application. For this purpose, essential oils of peppermint and lemon and their extracts were used and the trial was established according to the random parcel trial design as 4 repetitions, 5 characters. Accordingly, as a result of mite counted (visual control), seed application containing only lemon extract determined a significantly more repellent effect on T. urticae at the rate of 47.12% compared to in all applications. Leaf application containing lemon extract was found to attract 22.3% more mite individuals than the control application, and it was determined that this application had a more attractive effect on individuals. In addition, peppermint seed and peppermint leaf applications determined more repellent effect on mite adults by 19.35% and 0.40%, respectively, compared to the control application. As a result, it has been determined that T. urticae is susceptible to essential oils and the application of seeds containing lemon has a more repellent effect on the mite.
