Abstract (EN)
Aim and Background: We aimed to compare procalcitonin levels which are a good predictor of bacterial infection in patients with febrile convulsions who applied to general pediatric outpatient clinics, pediatric neurology outpatient clinic and pediatric emergency department. In addition, CRP and complete blood count values of these patients were planned to be compared between the two groups. In this study, it was aimed to investigate whether the infection in patients with seizures is of viral and / or bacterial origin. Material and Method: This study was carried out with descriptive type prospectively between December 2017 and May 2018 in the Pediatric and Pediatric Outpatient Clinic of Gaziantep University Medical Faculty and 88 patients aged 0-6. Age, gender, seizure type, last seizure duration, number of seizures, history of other seizures, presence of epilepsy in the family, drug use triggering convulsion and presence of additional disease were questioned. Their ages were evaluated in 3 groups as 0-12 months, 13-36 months and 37-72 months. In terms of viral and bacterial differentiation, patients were evaluated in two groups with PCT values as 0.15 Keyword: Ateş = Fever ; Bakteriyel enfeksiyonlar = Bacterial infections ; C reaktif protein = C reactive protein ; Cinsiyet = Gender ; Kalsitonin = Calcitonin ; Kan sayımı = Blood cell count ; Nöbetler-febril = Seizures-febrile ; Virüs hastalıkları = Virus diseases ; Yaş = Age ; Çocuklar = Children
