Examination of occupational health and safety knowledge of science teachers

In this study, it was aimed to determine the knowledge of science teachers about occupational health and safety. For this purpose, an "occupational health and safety" questionnaire containing 27 questions was applied to 352 science teachers working in Malatya. The data obtained from the questionnaire forms were analyzed using the SPSS package program. Frequency and percentage calculations were used to determine the demographic characteristics of the teachers participating in the study. Descriptive statistical methods such as arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used in the analysis of science teachers' answers to the "occupational health and safety" questionnaire. The t test and One Way Anova test were used to determine whether the answers of the teachers to the occupational health and safety questionnaire differ depending on their demographic characteristics. As a result of the research, it was determined that the teachers had a high level of knowledge about the importance of occupational health and safety, the rules to be followed, and the accident risks and hazards related to their profession; the level of receiving basic occupational health and safety training and basic first aid training is higher than the fire and hygiene training; they think how they can behave in cases of injury and how they can act calmly in the face of emergencies, and that the occupational health and safety course should be a compulsory course; It has been determined that they frequently encounter microbial diseases such as low back, neck and joint ailments-ear, nose and throat ailments and flu and colds transmitted from students.
