Abstract (EN)

Ferdinand D. Lessing has been wrote the Mongolian-Turkish Dictionary in 1942. This dictionary discussed the thesis consists of three parts: Mongolian-English, English-Mongolian, Mongolian-Tibetan-Sanskrit. But later it has been added to dictionary chapters of introduction, Buddhism Terms and Phrases, Tibetan and Sanskrit terms that entered Mongolian language through Buddhism, Buddhism terms produced in Mongolian additions and readjustments. This dictionary has been translated in two volumes by Günay Karaağaç in Turkey. In this thesis study, animal names and animal-related terms in the Ferdinand D. Lessing Mongolian-Turkish Dictionary will be scanned. In addition, the usage areas of animal names will be explained dictionary centered. The thesis study consists of three parts. In the first part, brief information will be given about animals in Mongolian culture and Buddhist culture. In the second part, animal names will be classified according to their biological characteristics in the Ferdinand D. Lessing Mongolian-Turkish Dictionary. The cultural usage areas of animal names will also be discussed. Additionally, this information will be presented in tabular form in this section. In the thirth chapter, a historical evaluation of the animal names compiled from Lessing's Mongolian-Turkish Dictionary will be made on a cultural scale.
