ABSTRACAT THE EFFECT OF FERTİLE-INFERTİLE WOMEN'S KNOWLEDGE ABOUT REPRODUCTİVE FUNCTİONS ON STRESS LEVEL Burcu ÇAKI Master Thesis, Degree of Nursing Public Health Nursing Graduate Program Thesis Advisor: Dr. Rabia SOHBET July 2018, 67 pages The research is a descriptive cross-sectional study which is designed to determine the effects of fertile and infertile women's knowledge about reproductive functions on stres level. While there are 4339 pregnant and 2458 infertile women who applied to Gaziantep University Sahinbey Research and Practice Hospital , obstetrics and gynecology clinic and service in 2016 included in the study ; the sample of the study is consisted of 223 pregnant and 157 infertile women.To collect data, the questionnaire prepared to determine the descriptive characteristics and the knowledge level of reproductive functions and Fertility Problem Inventory ( FPI) have been used. The data were evaluated in the SPSS 20 program. It was found that %54.8 of infertile women who participated in the study used menstrual calendar and %54.1 of them have bulging and %76.4 of them know pain two weeks before their menstruation (p<0.05). In addition, while it is also found significantly higher that %19.1 of infertile women know hormone as the most important factor in menstruation , %73,9 of them know the duration between ovulation and menstruation, %75,8 of them know the definition of ovulation, %49.7 of them know the number of eggs ( ovulars ) released in ovulation, % 58,6 of them know the life span of an egg and sperm in a woman's body, %87.9 of them know vaginal discharge finding during ovulation, %82.2 of them know the color of discharge and %92.4 of them know the high probability of pregnancy in the ovulation period, it is also identified significantly higher that %41.3 of the fertile women know the most important organ leading to pregnancy (p<0.05). When FPI scores of women in our study are examined, it is found that the lower dimension of the Refusal of Childless Life is higher (33.40±6.01) in fertile women. (p<0.05). There is also a positive correlation between fertile-infertile women's Global Stress Point and the lower dimensions of FPI. (p<0.05). It has been found that there is a significant relation between infertile women's infertility causes and the stress level of lower dimension of sexual problems. The stress level of %52.1 women whose infertility is connected to themselves has been found out to be higher (p<0.05). While there was a significant relationship between stres level of sub dimension of relations and the number of children, it was determined that %81.5 of the women whose stress level is average have three or more children.
