Abstract (EN)
This study is a descriptive study to determine the differences by examining the body image of individuals who do sports in the fitness center in terms of various variables. The athletes used in the study were randomly selected from individuals who actively do sports in fitness centers on a voluntary basis. The population of the research consists of individuals living in various parts of Turkey and doing sports in fitness centers. The sample group consists of 208 people randomly selected. (63 women, 145 men). In order to obtain the data of the study, the questionnaire and personal information form adapted into Turkish by Gökdoğan (Cok) (1988) based on the "Body Image Questionnaire" used to measure body image satisfaction of Berscheid, Walster and Bohrnstedt were used. SPSS 22.0 program was used for the statistical analysis of the data in the research. In the data in the study, descriptive statistics calculations were made. It was determined that the data showed normal distribution and parametric tests were applied. In statistical analysis, the variables specified by measurement are the mean, standard deviation (X/ss); Variables indicated by count were expressed as percentages. Independent sample t-test for paired groups, OneWay ANOVA for multiple groups. As a result of the research, when the mean scores obtained from the scale of the individuals participating in our study were examined, it was found that both women and men were generally quite satisfied with their body regions and features, and a significant difference was found in favor of men in the general appearance sub- dimension of the body and in favor of women in the face sub-dimension in terms of the gender variable. In terms of marital status variable, single women are more satisfied with their body features, in terms of working status, men and women who are working in the public sector and students are more satisfied with their body general appearance than those who do not work, and male participants' body appearance, body and total score in terms of physical activity level. It has been concluded that amateur and professional ones have a more positive body image than those who do physical activity for recreational purposes, and individuals who have been doing this sport for 9 years or more in terms of physical activity have a more positive body image than those who do this sport for 0-5 years.
