Abstract (EN)
All the women in the world have struggled to take advantage of rights and liberties given to the men and they have spilled blood to that end. Throughout the history various attempts have been realized aiming to change the sexist understanding within the society, to regulate the injustice suffered by women and children, and, to ensure social awareness, however, many more steps need to be taken towards an egalitarian society structure. Until the twentieth century, no one believed that women should live with the same freedom and equality as men, except for a limited few from the very past of the humanity. During the revolution, women came to the fore with the same demand but they faced the same rejection. Thus, they did not accept being treated as the "other sex" and gave fight to exist with their own identity. This study is important in terms of revealing the struggles for freedom and existence of women, which was ignored from the past to day, turned a blind eye and thrown to the background, during the French Revolution and putting for the real source of motivation being the women. Even though the women succeeded in attributing this struggle, the fuse of which was initially ignited by them, to a whole society yet faced no gain and once again was not considered as individuals even after their success in their fight for freedom. This study aims to contribute to the literature in women studies by presenting the role of women during the French Revolution.
