Özet (EN)
Poisoning during childhood is among the most important public health problems that is frequently observed in the world and in our country, results in disability or death and creates a significant amount of work load in emergency and hospitalizations. The objective of this study is to put forth the relationship of poisoning events which are among the frequently observed health problems of the childhood age (0-17 years of age) and the sociodemographic properties of the family and to determine the most frequent poisoning types in addition to putting forth whether there is a difference between the family evaluation scores applied to the control group who applied to the emergency for poisoning and non-poisoning related issues. The number of people to be included in the study was determined as 226 for each group. Sample access rate was actualized as %95.6. It was determined that %79,6 of the poisoning events occurred at home, %52,7 applied to a health organization without doing anything, application to a health institution was made most frequently between 1-4 hours ( %75), that the most frequently applied health institution is private or state hospital (%90,7), that %92,1 was poisoned with a single substance, that the majority of these was with the drugs at home (%53,7) and that the most frequent ones were orally ingested (%79,2). When compared with the control group, it was determined that the mothers of children in the poisoning group were less educated (p=0,000), that there were more housewives among them (p=0,000), that their fathers were less educated (p=0,000), that the number of their siblings was greater (p=0,000) and that their income level was lower (p=0,000). When the interest of the parents in the poisoning and control group with their children was examined; it was observed that the average scale total score was 2,50 for the poisoning group whereas it was 2,18 for the control group (p=0,000). (an average score approaching 4 is an indication of disinterest). Even though the basic solution is increasing the education and income levels, it will be beneficial in the short term to warn the mothers during the baby-child controls. Keywords: poisoning, child, family, scale of family interest
