Abstract (EN)
As no academic works that gathered and analysed Gaziantep folk songs have been carried out yet, the first aim of this thesis is to create an academic study on this issue. In this study, a total of one hundred and fifty songs including their variants were collected by reviewing literature and compiling Gaziantep folk songs that had not been cited in other works. Accessed folk songs that are performed in Gaziantep were analysed according to their structure, subject and melody, the stories of those with a story were included, and contextual and functional evaluations were carried out. Gaziantep, culture of Gaziantep and Gaziantep folk tales were introduced in the first section of the study, song lyrics were sorted and classified according their theme, variants of songs were included, circles where Gaziantep folk songs are performed and outstanding performers, folk song lovers, were mentioned, and finally folk songs were assessed with functional method.
