Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating role of fear of missing out and the moderating role of psychological resilience in the relationship between attachment styles and social media addiction in individuals in late adolescence. The study was conducted with 131 late adolescence participants aged 18-25. Data were obtained online using the Sociodemographic Information Form, Three-Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale, Missing Out in Social Environments Scale, Social Media Addiction Scale- Adult Form and Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults. The mediating effects of fear of missing out and psychological resilience in the relationship between attachment styles and social media addiction were analyzed using the SPSS PROCESS Macro Model 14. In addition, the mediating role of fear of missing out in the relationship between attachment styles and social media was tested using SPSS PROCESS Macro Model 4. According to the findings, the interaction of fear of missing out and psychological resilience did not have a significant effect on the relationship between attachment styles and social media addiction (B=-.0001, 95% BCA [-.0046, .0075]). Since the confidence interval was "0", it was concluded that the interaction effect was not significant. In the relationship between attachment styles and social media addiction, fear of missing out was not significant for secure attachment (B=-.0264, 95% BCA [-.3190, .1720]) and avoidant attachment (B=.0003, 95% BCA [-.1732, .1640]). In the relationship between anxious-ambivalent attachment style and social media addiction, the mediating effect of fear of missing out was found to be statistically significant (B=.2089, 95% BCA [.0505, .4245]). Through the findings of the study, the mediating and moderating effects in the relationship between attachment styles and social media addiction were evaluated, and it is thought that determining protective factors in studies on social media addiction will contribute to interventions aimed at preventing or reducing negative effects.
