Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, among the varieties of spheroidal graphite cast irons, the GGG-50 grade was selected. Using the Thermo-Reactive Diffusion (TRD) method, Titanium Carbide (TiC) coatings were produced at specific ratios. The TiC coatings were applied at 900 °C, 950 °C and 1000 °C for durations of 2 to 4 hours. The coating behaviors at different temperatures and durations were examined by optical microscopy, microhardness testing, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. As a result of the experiments, optical microscope observations revealed that as both temperature and duration increased, the coating thickness also increased. Furthermore, three distinct regions were observed: the coating layer, the transition zone, and the base material. Microhardness measurements indicated that as the coating thickness increased, the hardness values also rose. In the XRD studies, the presence of TiC, Fe and Fe3S phases was detected. The obtained results were compared and discussed with the findings reported in the literature.
