Material proposal and applications for guitar education and accompaniment course

This study is based on developing materials for the "Guitar Education and Accompaniment 1" course taught in the music teaching undergraduate program with undergraduate students who have not received guitar education before and revealing how the implementation process of these materials works. In this process, it was aimed to develop a material that includes the course outcomes based on the experiences of the course teacher and the information obtained from student feedback. In the material development process of the research, the main study group consisted of 5 students studying in the 3rd grade of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Department of Music Education. In addition, the opinions of 7 instructors working as guitar instructors in the Department of Music Education were consulted to determine the preliminary design and needs of the material before the application. The research was implemented as action research, one of the qualitative research designs, and as "applied / mutual cooperation / discussion-oriented" in terms of type. Data were collected through expert opinions during the weekly implementation process, continuous reflection of the researcher's experience-student feedback, and student feedback at the end of the implementation process. The data were analyzed descriptively on the basis of qualitative research. The implementation process of the research took place over a period of 14 weeks in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. Approaches to the problems encountered during the study process were developed and added to the material, and solution suggestions were presented by reflecting the problems identified. As a result of the research, a teaching material proposal for the "Guitar Education and Accompaniment 1" course based on teacher / student experiences emerged.
