Abstract (EN)
This thesis study was carried out in 3 stages that determination of Thysanoptera species, their distribution and detection rates in cereal production areas in the Lakes Region, population fluctiations of important species and molecular characterization of important Phlaeothripidae species. In each stage, direct sampling and shake-out methods were used to obtain thrips species and morphological diagnoses were made by preparing the slides of thrips individuals. In the study, total of 52 species were identified including to 10 species belonging to Tubulifera and 42 species belonging to Terebrantia. The most common species were Haplothrips tritici (Kurdjumov, 1912), Collembolothrips mediterraneus and Thrips angusticeps, respectively. In this study was determined that Aptinothrips stylifer Trybom, 1894, Hoplothrips caespitis (Uzel, 1895), Oxythrips retamae (Priesner, 1934), Pezothrips frontalis (Uzel, 1895), Thrips herricki Bagnall, 1926 and Neoheegeria sinaitica Priesner, 1934 were recorded for the first time from Turkey. Additionally, Aptinothrips elegans mediterranea was determined as a new subspecies from Turkey. The population change stage of Haplothrips tritici (Kurdjumov, 1912) which is determined to be an important species in the production areas, was carried out in 2016 and 2017 by sampling once a week from the plant exit until the end of the production season on a barley (Tarım92) and a wheat (Tosunbey) varieties. In the Tosunbey wheat variety, the adult female population reached the highest level (2.56 individuals/ear) at the end of May which coincided with the beginning of ears in 2016 and (2.24 individuals/ear) at the beginning of June in 2017. The Tarım92 in barley variety; It was determined that reached its highest level on May 30 in 2016 (1.04 individuals/ear) and on May 25 in 2017 (1.07 individuals/ear). At the molecular characterization stage of the study, identification of H. tritici and H. cerealis Priesner 1939 from important Phlaeothripidae species was carried out using the COI gene region. Individuals of H. cerealis evaluated at this stage was found to be the same species as H. tritici.
