The transcription and analysis of the Ankara Court Registry Records no. 97 dated 1721-1722 (Hegira Calendar 1133-1134)

One of the main sources that give firsthand information about the administrative, economic and socio-cultural life of the Ottoman State and the Ottoman society is the Shari'a registers (books). Although the Shari'a provisions are the main ones, these books, which also include customary practices, were kept by the qadis assigned to the centers called kaza (district). In addition to orders from the center, it reflects extremely valuable information about all kinds of purchases, sales, disputes, marriages, divorces, inheritance, guardianship, neighborly relations that occur in its neighborhood. The book that we chose to transcribe and evaluate contains the records from the period between AH 1133 and 1134 (AD 1721 and 1722). In our study, first of all, general information about the history and geography of the city of Ankara, as well as the Shari'a registers and the qadi is provided. Then, the transcription of the Ankara Shari'a register No. 97 was made and finally, based on the documents in the book, evaluations were made about the appearance of Ankara on the specified dates.
