Abstract (EN)

Sulfur compounds present in diesel fuel pose significant environmental and health concerns. This study introduces a novel approach to remove sulfur from light gas oil through oxidative desulfurization (ODS) using a mesoporous Pd/Zeolite catalyst in an oscillatory baffled reactor (OBR). A series of experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of various parameters, including temperature (40-80 °C), residence time (4-12 minutes), and oscillation frequency (0.4-1.2 Hz), on the sulfur removal efficiency. The mesoporous structure of the catalyst facilitated the adsorption and oxidation of sulfur-containing compounds. The OBR design significantly enhanced mass and heat transfer, improving sulfur removal.Under optimal conditions (80 °C, 12 minutes residence time, and 1.2 Hz oscillation frequency), a remarkable sulfur removal efficiency of 93.11% was achieved. This research provides a promising pathway towards producing cleaner and more environmentally friendly diesel fuels.
