Abstract (EN)

Although the accuracy and comparability of financial information provided to interested parties is always an important issue, it has become even more important in today's global business environment. International Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards, which have been published since 1973 by the International Accounting Standards Board in order to include comparable, accurate and complete information in financial reports, have become a costly and difficult standard set for SMEs, one of the most important locomotives of today's global world. The need of SMEs for more effective and comparable reporting has been the subject of discussion in almost every country and the idea of creating a separate financial reporting for SMEs has emerged. In this context, the IASB has issued a separate financial reporting standard for SMEs (SME FRS), but SME FRS has received many positive and negative reviews since its publication. While the full set of IAS / IFRSs have been required by the European Union to be applied for companies listed on the stock exchange in member countries since 2005, the use of SME FRS is left to the initiative of the countries and no obligation has been imposed. In this thesis, financial reporting standard applications for SMEs at international level are discussed.
