Economic analysis of fruit sapling producing farms in Hatay province

In this study, examining the economic structure of fruit sapling tree production in The Hatay Province, economic production values and problems of production activities have been demonstrated. The data obtained from agricultural holdings belong to 2013 production period. The data were obtained from enterprises by the method of full count and face to face with producers. Enterprises were classified as three groups according to the production capacity of fruit sapling trees. First goups (1 to 50.000 number), second groups (50.001 to 100.000 number) and third group (more than 100.000 number). The Family labor utilization rate was calculated as 50,71%. Of the enterprises, 68,92's% were producing on their own property. The breeding of fruit saplings was 75,38% of the pross production. The most common species of fruit sapling production were citrus (46,20%) and olive trees (35,29%). The cost of per sapling was calculated as 1.87 TL in farms. In contrast, the average selling price of saplings is 3.36 TL. As a result, 1,49 TL profit was achieved per fruit sapling trees. The problems faced by most of the farms in the region were high input prices, excessive bureaucratic procedures preventing memberships into the union, an inadequate amount of support provided by the state, production-threatening diseases of plants and difficulties in finding qualified staff in the region. As a result, according to some economic criterias such as G0, GPV, GP, PO, PP, sapling production profitability is higher in the third group enterprises. So increased capasity is reccommended, and has been observed to increase economic saccess.
