Abstract (EN)
It is important for nurses to have knowledge about the importance of game and about toy selection so that they can transfer this knowledge to the child, the individuals and the families responsible for the care of the child. In this way, it will be possible for children to benefit from the game properly and to protect children from toy accidents and infections related to toys. The research, which was prepared in a semi-experimental type, was carried out in Adana-Turkey between February 10 and May 30, 2020 in order to examine the effect of education given to nursing students about the importance of play and about toy selection during 0-1 Years of infancy. The study, which was applied with the voluntary participation of 56 senior nursing students from Çukurova University Faculty of Health Sciences, was applied online through a questionnaire prepared in a test-style in the form of pre-test (pre-training) and final test (post-training), questioning the sociodemographic data of the students and their knowledge about the importance of game and the choice of toys during the 0-1 age infancy period. The training prepared was about the importance of game during 0-1 age infancy, the benefits of game in developmental areas, games/toys according to age groups, toy hygiene, toy selection and toy safety and standards. The training was given live online for 40 minutes, with video and power point presentation. The prepared training material was uploaded to the system online for students to read. A statistically significant difference was found in favor of the post-test in terms of students' pre-test/post-test knowledge scores (Z=-3.175; p=0.001). Pre-training (pre-test) knowledge score (pre-test) 62.29±17.80, median 64) was good, and post-training scores increased (post-test: 72.07±19.84 median 74). The study has an effect on the knowledge scores of the training given to nursing students about the importance of game and toy selection during the 0-1 age infancy period. The H1 hypothesis was accepted.
