Abstract (EN)
The Salname of the Observatory-i Amire dated Hijri 1288 / Ad 1871-72, which is the subject of the study, is a kind of special salname, but it is considered the establishment document of the Observatory-i Amire. The information contained in this book contains important information about the period, its characteristics, activities, modern meteorology, astronomy and seismology, which have an important place in the adoption of modern meteorology, astronomy and seismology sciences today, but also about the period in which it was written. Based on the research conducted, it is understood that this issue has not been investigated before, and studies on this issue have not been conducted. With this study, it is aimed to provide information about the benefits of the Observatory-i Amire about the country and marine meteorology, how solar and Lunar eclipses are performed, what kind of information is given about seismological activities in the Ottoman period, the purpose and activities of the Observatory-i Amire about the areas of our country, which is an earthquake country, with a transcript and evaluation of the work containing meteorological, astronomical and seismological topics. In the first part of the study, a Latin letter transcription of the Observatory-i Amire's Salname was included, and its evaluation was made in the second part. In this work, written in French by observatory director Aristidi Kumbari and translated into Turkish by Captain Said Efendi, the time when the ball will be thrown will be alaturka-alafranga for every day according to the Gregorian, Rumi and Hijri calendar at noon in Istanbul, but the family life of Sultan Abdulaziz Sultan of the period, coordinates of Istanbul, Solar and Lunar eclipses, important days of Muslims and Non-Muslims, the distance of the planets to the sun and important information about the Comet are included it is provided. A large part of the work is devoted to information and methods that will be useful for sailors in a practical sense. In this context, the latitude and longitude of the region are determined and time calculations are made, and the distance of the sun to the equator is determined.
