The evaluation of cardiovascular disease risk knowledge levels and health development behaviors of patients with hypertension diagnosis

This study was carried out with the aim of evaluating cardiovascular diseases risk factors knowledge levels and health promotion behaviors of patients with hypertension. In this study; 100 consecutive patients diagnosed with hypertension who applied to the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic of Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine and meeting the inclusion criteria were taken. For the research data, the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II, Cardiovascular Diseases Risk Factors Knowledge Level Scale and personal information form including demographic data and some clinical data of the patients prepared by the researchers were used. The mean of KARRIF-BD scale of the participants was 17.94 ± 4.81, and the mean of SYBDÖ 2 was 118.32 ± 17.93. Interpersonal relations subscale mean was the highest with 22.77 ± 4.61, and physical activity subscale mean was the lowest with 12.83 ± 3.84. A significant difference was found between the result of KARRIF-BD scale and the number of drugs used for hypertension and the state of being informed about cardiovascular diseases. A significant difference was found between the physical activity subscale of SYBDÖ 2 and the number of drugs used for hypertension, between the nutrition subscale of SYBDÖ 2 and marital status, between the spiritual devolopment subscale of SYBDÖ 2 and the number of additional diseases, between the health responsibility subscale of SYBDÖ 2 and the presence of cardiovascular disease, between the stress management subscale of SYBDÖ 2 and the number of additional diseases. It has been determined that the participants with hypertension have moderate healthy lifestyle behaviors and knowledge level of cardiovascular diseases risk factors. It has been determined that there may be a relationship between healthy lifestyle behaviors and the cardiovascular diseases risk factors knowledge levels of the participants. It was concluded that hypertension patients should be informed especially about exercise. It has been determined that data such as being a woman, being married, income level, presence of cardiovascular disease, the number of additional diseases, the number of drugs used and the cardiovascular diseases risk factors knowledge levels may affect the healthy life behaviors of patients.
