Abstract (EN)

Christianity, which was born under the rule of the Roman Empire, has experienced many divisions within itself since the first periods of its history. As a result of these divisions, different groups and currents emerged. Among the emerging currents, it took its place in dualist currents. The Church saw itself as the main vein of Christianity and described dualist movements that were against its own teachings as heretical. The church and the state counted the struggle against and annihilation of these groups, which they described as deviant, among their most important duties. This struggle generally started by sending the people to the region who would bring these currents to the right. Later, this process continued with moral sanctions such as excommunication, financial penalties such as taxes and confiscation of their properties, burning, hanging and physical punishments. These practices, carried out in cooperation with the church and the state, prevented the dualist movements from disappearing in their natural processes. They were deliberately destroyed by the Church and the state. Key Words: Christianity, Dualism, Heretics, Dualist Movements, Church, Punishment and Sanctions
