Abstract (EN)

In our country, the courses taught under the name "Turkish" in primary and secondary schools and "Turkish Language and Literature" in high schools serve a common purpose, despite having different titles. The primary objective of these courses is to ensure that students have a strong command of their native language, use it correctly and effectively, and, through these competencies, produce literary works. Examining the course content reveals that it includes grammar, reading comprehension, various text types, visual materials, activities, topic reviews, and assessments. However, a review of the literature indicates that studies on how Turkish textbooks used today have evolved are quite limited. This study aims to contribute to filling this gap. Titled "Transcription and Evaluation of Hüseyin Ragıp's 'İptidailerde Türkçenin Usul-i Tedrisi", this study delves into the educational methods and techniques that should be employed in teaching Turkish to children, the most effective teaching strategies for educators, how to organize the classroom environment, and how to guide students based on their age and cognitive differences. Additionally, it explores the skills that can be imparted to children not only to teach them their native language but also to help them become productive individuals through its use. Furthermore, the study provides detailed information about the author, Hüseyin Ragıp Baydur, and includes both the transcription and evaluation of his work. In the introduction, the research objectives, significance, methodology, and limitations are discussed. Additionally, primary sources were consulted to define the concept of education and to present key concepts related to the subject. The first chapter examines the life and works of Hüseyin Ragıp Baydur based on primary sources. His articles, journals, critiques, newspaper publications, and books are analyzed in detail within their respective contexts. The second chapter presents an evaluation of the work, offering a general overview followed by a detailed analysis divided into seven sections. In the third chapter, the transcription of Hüseyin Ragıp's "İptidailerde Türkçenin Usul-i Tedrisi" is provided, ensuring easier access to the work for readers.
