In this thesis, the relationship between the residual displacement value on the structure after the earthquake and the selected earthquake parameters have been investigated. The effects of velocity pulses on the residual displacement values in field near to the fault, which are known to be the parameters affecting the residual displacement values of structural systems, have been revealed in detail. To examine these effects, lateral strength ratio, elastic vibration period of the structure, amplitude of the velocity pulse and period of the velocity impact were used. In this study, nonlinear time history analysis were performed on single degree of freedom systems. While making these analyzes, 3 lateral strength ratios, 11 vibration periods, 7 velocity pulse amplitudes and 12 velocity pulse periods were selected. In order to make these analyzes, simple pulse functions that reflect the velocity pulses observed in near-fault earthquakes are defined and used instead of real earthquake records. As a result of the analysis, the effect of the amplitude of velocity pulse and the period of the velocity pulse occurring in the fields close to the fault on the residual displacement were determined together with the effects of other selected parameters. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the velocity pulse period had an effect on the residual displacement rate, whereas the velocity pulse amplitude did not affect the residual displacement rate much.
