The linguistic contrasts in Puslu Kitalar Atlasi novel of İhsan Oktay Anar

The novel which entered our literature in the periof of Tanzimat, has gone through many stages in terms of form and content until today. The authors used various narrative techniques to strengthen communication with the reader. One of the forms of expression that is being used in the contemporary Turkish novel is "the contrast." The opposite of one of the two concepts is called contrast. The author believes that he's presenting the message in a powerful way by utilizing the perception of the contrasts concepts of reader's mind. Thus with the contrasts surprising the reader, while making possible to think the event or message in a double way and at the same time is having made the reader brainstorming. The contrast or oxymoron are concepts that we came across in every field of life. The litareture is one of the art which has the most possesion in a life for this reason the contrast found his best expression in litareture. The modern life is a clew of paradoxes. The modernist literature which is a reflection of modern life transfers his complexity to readers via contrasts. Actually the contrast is a concept that enters between philosphy and rationality. Philosophers are always in a endeavour of questioning. They sometimes questioned the existence, sometimes the esthetic or the science and sometimes they questioned the morality also. In a basis of these interrogations there is always a contradiction. The contradiction leads to doubt. The doubt causes human to think in a multidimensinal way.Thus the universe is series of paradoxes. The human wants to make sense of contradictions. The main purpose of human labors is to resolve the contradiction. This resolution is directly proportinal with the learning impulse of human. Human psychology, is reflected in the literary work with its complexity and contradiction. The human who is full of complexity and contradictions, is a subject that our contemporary novel the most proximate interested in. We're going to try to examine with linguistic contrast perspective in both lexical and clause cantent, the novel of İhsan Oktay Anar, one of the important representatives of our contemporary novel, which is called "Puslu Kıtalar Atlası" (atlas of misty continental) in this article.
