The context directory and functional dictionary of III. Murat Divan

Classical Turkish Literature is the longest period of Turkish Literature during 600 years long Ottoman era. Due to the changes in the living conditions, world of thought and the alphabet, it has become difficult for today's people to understand this literature. One of the works done in order to understand the texts of Classical Turkish Literature is TEBDİZ (Functional Dictionary and History and Literature Concordance Project). The context directory and functional dictionary of Muradi Divan was prepared in the scope of this Project. In this work all word's and phrases' meanings in the text were tried to be identified and thenceafter turned into the dictionary format. The concordance of the work represents the alphabetical sorting and the usage frequency of the proofs; and the functioanl dictionary section expresses the meanings of these proofs they get according to the context they are used. With this study, 109.856 words, 24.793 word groups, 659 idioms, 199 verses of the Qur'an, 28 hadith were identified, 5159 lexical entries and 9956 sub-entries were interprited, the notions shaping the poet's world of thought are analysed and the cultural elements of the era are expressed as much as they are seen in the poems of Murâdî. By this method, poems of Murâdî in particular and the Classical Turkish Litareature in general are intended to be understandable.
