Abstract (EN)
Throughout the historical process, human beings have always faced their finite existence and have encountered the ephemerality of their existence and absence as well. The volition to comprehend their existence of human beings has sometimes tried to be shaped by concrete discourses such as science, religion or the social practices of the period, but its essence has not been understood due to the fact that it is a more deep-rooted phenomenon. The sense or throes of existence that the subject feels from the very beginning reveals a phenomenon that is deeper, beyond its name. In addition to the concepts of alienation, anxiety, and deficiency experienced by the subject in every period, the struggle for existence of human brought the phenomenon of melancholy along. Melancholia appears as a phenomenon that explains all the blurriness, anxiety and ambiguity experienced by human beings, is interlocked with human beings and is as old as human. Although melancholy is seen as an existentially subject-related, singular experience, the will to create its own justice, authority, and essence altogether lies in its core. This volition to create has brought along a struggle for existence in which the human being is caught between dilemmas. The subject's will to be unique in itself will reveal itself in artistic creations. This study examines the melancholic creation processes and reflections of the concepts such as euphoria, alienation and value creation caused by melancholy in the poetry and painting in the period after World War II.
