Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is primarily aimed to investigate the effect of cognitive distortion, problem solving and tolerance level in marriage on marriage compliance. Beside this, the relationship between such variables as married individual's gender, age, educational status and those of their spouses, marrige period, the socio-economic and happiness levels and their settlements, the number of children, whether their home belongs to them or not, and cognitive distortion, problem solving, tolerance level in marriage are examined. In this research, descriptive statistical techniques are used. The sample group of thestudy is composed of married individuals, living the center of Sanlıurfa, who are randomly selected from various public and private in stitutions and organizations. In this research, Cognitive Distortion Scale in Marriage that is improved by Harmancı (2000) , Tolerance Scalethatis improved by Ercüment ERSANLI, Problem Solving Scale in Marriage that is improved by Baugh, Averyand Sheeths- Hawoth, Marriage Compliance Scalethat is improved by Locke and Wallace (1959) and 'Personal Information Form'that is improved by the purpose of gathering in formation about some variables and marriage, are used. When the findings were avaluated, it was found that there was a negatively low level relationship between cognitive distortions and tolerance level of married individuals; In addition it was seen that there was a positively medium level and meaningful relationship between marriage problem solving skills and martial adjustment while there was no significant relationship between other scale scores of the level of 05. In addition while the mean scores of problem solving in married individuals differed according to having children, number of children, and education level, socioeconomic status and duration of marriage did not differ significantly according to the veriables; while the mean scores of cognitive distortions differ significantly according to the educational level, educational level of spouses and socioeconomic status; it does not differ significantly according to the veriables of having children, number of children and duration of marriage; while tolerance levels differ significantly according to gender, marriage duration and socioeconomic levels of mean scores; that having children, number of children, age, education level and spouses did not differ significantly acording to education level veriables; mean scores of martial ajustment differed significantly according to having children, number of children, education level and spouses education levels; gender, duration of marriage, socieconomic level and age did not differ significantly.
