Investigating the leadership behaviors of educational administrators in respect of european excellence modeling according to the views of teachers and educational administrators

The purpose of this study is to examine the leadership behaviors of Turkish educational administrators in respect of EFQM criterias according to the views of teachers and educational administrators who work in the primary and high schools in Sakarya. In the current study scanning method was used. The study was conducted in the second semester of 2006-2007 education year and sample was chosen randomly. To determine the attitudes of the teachers and educational administrators a questionnaire form and a scale was used. The questionnaire form which consist of nine questions was used to investigate the demographic information of the subjets such as gender, age and education level. Also, The Scale of Leadership Criterias for EFQM (AKY-LKÖ) was developed by the author to assess the attitudes of the teachers and educational administrators. The scale was formed as likert type and consisted of 56 questions. Reviews of literature and interviews conducted with academic staff provided great help in the preparation process of this scale. As a result of items analysis for each question and pilot study, scale was given its final form with 56 questions. Cronbach Alfa internal consistency was found to be 0.98. According to the independent variables of the questionnaire form; attitudes of the teachers and educational administrators were compared with Independent Samples T Test and One-Way ANOVA Analysis. As to determine the reason for the meaningful difference Scheffe and Dunnet C tests were used. For the results to be understood concretely datum have been given in charts and comments have been made in that content. For all tests, a probability value of 0.05 was considered significant and statistical analyses were performed by SPSS 13.0.
