Internet and computer technology skills of the elementary and high school teachers

This research is conducted with the intention to determine the internet and computer technology skills of the elementary and high school teachers and their stand and reaction towards computer technologies. There will be suggestions made according to the findings and the results of this study. The universe of the research contains some of the elementary and high school teachers that have jobs City of Istanbul, Bayrampasa, Eyüp ve Sultangazi within 2013-2014 study period. The questions of survey for this study are picked and developed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Semra ÜNAL. The study contains 110 schools owned by government and 148 private schools. The questionnaire is given total 293 teachers which consists 261 official teachers and 32 private teachers. Total 293 questionnaires answered by these teachers and administrators in the chosen schools and all of the answered questionnaires are taken into consideration for the conclusion of the research. The first section of the research contains of the essence of the problem statements and sub problems, hypothesis, assumptions, limitations and terms. The second section contains the following: The Theoretical resources, The requirements of teachers in terms of Information Technology, The role of Information Technology in Education, The requirements for the teachers according to ISTE, The legislation of the use of computers and measures, The moral standards of the use of computers in education, The developments of education of Information Technology in our country, The adequacy of the teachers in terms of Internet use . The third section discusses the methodology of the research. This section discusses the universe and sampling of the research, data collection and processing of the data, statistical techniques used in the study. The forth section consists of the frequencies of the data table results of the questionnaires applied to the official and private teachers who are in duty of Elementary and Middle Schools and t-test for unrelated groups and the findings on One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and complementary Post-Hoc Scheffe Test. In this research the nine sub-problems are tried to be answered. The fifth chapter is given to the discussions about the results of the study. The sixth chapter is given to the conclusions based on the findings obtained in the study and the answers related to the sub-problems. In the seventh chapter suggestions were given based on the obtained findings and conclusions reached by making use of this study.
