Relationship between the attitude of primary school managers with respect to their management styles and the organizational commitments of primary school teachers and application (Example of the district of Bağcılar)

The subject of this study is the relationship between the attitude of primary school managers with respect to their management styles and the organizational commitments of primary school teachers.The purpose of this study is to determine in which management style the organizational commitment level of primary school teachers is higher and in which one it is lower and to reveal whether there is a difference concerning the organizational commitments of teachers between the subgroups of demographic characteristics like the age of the teachers, the length of their service and their level of education.In the first part of this study we primarily investigated communication and its factors. We examined afterwards the notions of organizational communication and the place of communication in organizations and management. The end of the first part dealt with the mission, the role and responsibilities, the ways of behavior and the communicative sense of the school managers. In the second part, we studied the notions of management styles and organizational commitment, emphasized on the properties of organizational commitment and the factors constituting the organizational commitment by teachers and compared the various management concepts in relation to their effects on organizational commitment. The third part is the application part.At the end of the study, we came to the conclusion that the relationship between the management styles of the school managers and the organizational commitment of teachers is meaningful but not strong and that the demographic characteristics, gender, age and level of education do not act on the organizational commitment. However with the comparison of management styles with respect to the effects on organizational commitment, we observed that the level of organizational commitment regarding the democratic and consultative management approach is higher.Key Words: School management, teacher, organizational commitment, communication
