The approaches of the elementry school principals in overcoming the resistance to change in accordance with the views of the teachers: The example of Uşak

The scope of this research is to determine the approaches of the elementary school principals --working in the city centre and country towns of Uşak- in overcoming the resistance against change in accordance with the views of the teachers, and to determine whether these approaches differ from each other with respect to the variables such as gender, seniority, field, working time in the school and graduation.Survey model has been used in the process. During the phase of collecting data, the scale of the approaches that school principles used to overcome the resistence against change in schools which developed by the researcher has been used. 182 women and 193 men, in total 375 teachers participated in this research. Choosing the universe, Random sampling method has been used.The results show that according to teachers , school principles utilize mostly the communication approach to overcome the resistence against change . The communication approach , the suppression and the use of force approach show difference in field and working time in school. While the approach of involvement and taking part in shows difference in working time in school, the education approach shows difference with respect to the variables such as seniority working time in school and graduation.Key words: Change, Resistance to Change, Approaches in Overcoming the Resistance against Change
