Dr. Öznur ÖZTOSUN ÇAYDEREJanuary 2006, 111 + xiv pagesThis research has been made to determine whether teaching based onMultiple Intelligence Theory at Primary School music lessons is more effective atstudent success and at the permanence of the information learnt. For this reason, at2004-2005 teaching year second term, from Bolu Province Central Primary Schoolsfrom Gazipaşa Primary School, experiment group (class 6-D-35 students) andcontrol group (class 6-C-35 students) have been chosen and applied to 70 students.At the control and experiment group; according to students? genders, numbers andresults of the Multiple Intelligence Questionnaire a balance has been obtained. At theresearch, in experiment group while the Unit `Speed-Resonance and Expression atmusic? studied with the teaching based on Multiple Intelligence Theory, in controlgroup it has been studied with Traditional Teaching.At the research as a means of data collection, test formed totally 28 questionsprepared by the researcher has been applied at the beginning of teaching, at the endof teaching and 21 days later (to measure permanence). Behaviors supposed to beobserved on the students by the observers at the beginning of teaching, at the end ofteaching and 21 days after teaching each student assessed and used as a datacollection means. Data; analyzed by using descriptional statistics related to thegroups, among point averages at the bilateral comparison test `t? and when thenumber of the subjects decreased Mann-Whitney Harmony test.At the end of this research, in music lessons the group, applied teaching basedon Multiple Intelligence Theory is more successful in comparison with the groupapplied Traditional teaching and is more effective to the permanence of theinformation learnt has been determined.Key Words: Multiple Intelligence Theory, Teaching Based on Multiple IntelligenceTheory, Traditional Teaching, Music Education
