Examination of the relationship of primary school 4th grade students in the visual arts lesson and creativity

The life of a society or nation to continue existing in the future depends on raising children as healthy, knowledgeable and creative individuals. Therefore, societies that attach importance to child education and strive in this context have continued their existence until today. There are two important factors in the general education and training of the child. The first of them is family of the child, the second factor is the school. In an individual's life, the primary school also has a special importance in acquiring knowledge in a systematic way. In addition to the negative effects of today's rapidly modernizing world, which is especially called as the digital age, the ineffectiveness of education programs in raising people is a topic that is discussed today. To being able to develop children's creativity comes first among the primary objectives of current education models which consider today's conditions and are accepted by almost all over the World. Today, urbanization and industrialization phenomena affect the social structure and force change and transformation. Therefore, the change in the living spaces of children compared to the past and the increasing involvement of technological devices in their lives bring some conveniences to the education system as well as some negativities within. In order to reduce the dependence of children on technological devices, different education-training models are needed. Visual Arts Lesson is one of the primary school children's favorite and most enjoyable lessons. This course, by providing the child with a free environment, allows the child's feelings to be expressed in a comfortable way. During visual art activities, children become aware of their abilities. In addition, it also contributes to the cognitive development of the child by interpreting the environment s/he is in and reflecting his/her imagination. This study is a qualitative research and the study group is consisted of 4th grade students in a public primary school located in the city center of Ağrı. A total of 20 students, 15 girls and 5 boys, participated in the study on a voluntary basis. In the study, "Examination of the relationship between creativity and the paintings made by 4th grade primary school students in the visual arts class" and its analyzation were aimed. Descriptive analysis method was used in the analyzation of the pictures. In the result of the analysis, it was revealed that one of the students was in the scribbling stage, eleven students were in the pre-schema stage, four of the students were in the schematic stage, and the other four students were in the reality stage. Furthermore, it also has been revealed that the students most prominently gave place to the details in the pictures, the use of the whole paper, the encolouring, including of the gender difference and the establishment of the two or more concepts.
