The effect of parent and teacher attitudes on primary school students' perceptions of creativity self-efficient

Creativity self-efficacy, a person's own belief to be creative, is very important for the success of individuals in their future life. Creativity self-efficacy skills should be examined in detail in order to develop creativity skills, which is one of the most important skills of our age especially for children. The aim of this study was to examine primary school students' perception of creativity self-efficacy and to reveal the opinions of students about the attitudes of parents and teachers among the factors affecting the creativity self-efficacy perception of the students. Explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed method designs, was used in study. 320 primary school students in the 3rd and 4th grades of public schools in Merzifon/Amasya province participated the study in order to determine creativity self-efficacy perception of primary school students. "Primary School Students' Creativity Self-Efficacy Scale", prepared to be used in this study, was applied to students. Interviews were conducted with 34 students among the students participating in scale, using a semi-structured interview form developed by researcher. While determining the sample, sequential mixed sampling method was used. The interviewed students were chosen for the purpose. While determining creativity self-efficacy perceptions of primary school students, they were examined according to gender and class variables, and data were analyzed using SPSS package program. The qualitative data obtained from interviews were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. As a result of analysis of quantitative data obtained from the creativity self-efficacy perceptions scale, it was concluded that creativity self-efficacy perception of primary school students was at a high level, the perception of creativity self-efficacy differed in favor of females according to gender, but there was no significant difference according to class variable. According to findings obtained from interview form, it was seen that teachers were the most supportive of primary school students' fluent, flexible and original thinking skills. It is noteworthy that negative parent and teacher attitudes affect the child's creativity self-efficacy perception negatively. It was understood that parents and teachers mostly supported creativity self-efficacy perception of primary school students in a positive way.
